Discovery Phase

An initial step in creating a custom website is the discovery phase. Gathering information about a business or brand is the main goal of this step. It is essential for a web developer to learn more about who you are, what your brand is, and what you do during the Discover Phase.

Planning Phase

It's time to move ahead to the site planning phase once all the information about your business has been gathered. Even though businesses may be eager to jump right into a website's design, structuring your website starting from the foundation and architecture will give you a better chance of success. A sitemap is created during the planning phase and serves as a visual representation of the pages for your website. All navigation will be decided here, including main, secondary, and tertiary. Depending on the size of the product, Rustin Digital may also create a wireframe to give you a first look at what the user experience will be. If you’re taking advantage of our full service packages, this would be the stage where we’d begin to define your SEO strategy. Additionally, the account manager will guide a company during this phase toward selecting the right technologies to use on their new site.

Design Phase

It's now time to have some fun. During the Design Phase, you get to choose how your website will look. All the information gathered during the Discovery Phase will come in handy when designing the custom website. When creating a website, we consider who your target audience is, how your brand is represented, who you are, and what you do. Generally we will create a wireframe in Adobe XD or Figma. We then allow your to make comments in our handy online review tool for a rapid review processes. The tool will allow you to make comments on any element on the site so that our team can quickly and easily implement changes.

Development Phase

Now that the site design is complete, it's time to put our creation into action. Our team of web developers will take all of the approved design elements, technologies, curated content, and more to create a functional site. Everything you approved will finally be implemented. As a web developer has to translate the agreed design into code, this stage usually takes the bulk of the project’s time and budget. Typically, we’ll begin the development process in our company’s private development environment. When it is completed, it will be transferred to the appropriate server. For the site's features, content, and design to meet our standards, it will undergo thorough quality control (QC). This involves going through each page, testing each link, every form, script, and line of code. Our ultimate goal is always to ensure that the user experience is as smooth as possible.

Having completed the design, development, and quality control of the site, the site is now ready for launch. The problem is that it isn't simply a matter of flipping a switch. It is essential to host your website on the right server and platform. In addition, we take some additional time to retest the site to ensure that all features work as expected. Once we’ve completed this phase, your site can be officially launched to the public.

Launching a business website is a major milestone for virtually any company. The fact that the site is live does not necessarily mean the work is over. Adding fresh content to a website regularly is one way to continue to attract new customers. Many web developers provide up-to-date content maintenance services. However, by using a content management system (CMS), businesses can update the content on their own. However, if you choose to do so, this will need to be decided during the planning stage. We also perform site backups and updates.
